This problem seems to be particularly acute at PH and is mentioned repeatedly in trip reports. I hadn't realised it was much more widespread. Our only experience in an OW villa (we much prefer on-land accommodations, partly because of the shade, and that is what we chose at PH) was at Dusit Thani and we had no problems.
