I don't remember when it was last time but mainly when traveling with the family (my wife is scared of flying) and prefers sitting next to another adult family member (i.e. me or one of our adult daughters). We also have a toddler, so obviously if she would be sitting apart from me I would ask. But don't let your fantasies ruin your anger towards those who occasionally ask.
