I played with it for a while last night and got this ticket for $2459 (USD) with a stopover in ZRH.

It seems like the AC fare is valid on the normal *A JV carriers aka AC/UA/LH/LX/SN/OS plus BA if the European connection point is LHR. LH group carriers published the same fare but adding a BA flight to LH stock will increase the price by approx. $300. I forced the outbound transatlantic on LX by departing from YTZ. Seems like if ex-YYZ to ZRH it has to be on AC for some reason. The fare is not valid out of YUL itself.

I was also able to get it to price out of NBO for the return. Seems like DAR works too. Out of NBO you can choose to be on BA, which is good for me since i'd like some BA tier points. It always fascinates me when I can get carriers from different alliances issued on the same ticket...doesn't happen very often nowadays.

The last thing I noticed after I have bought the ticket is that the ZRH-JNB segment is issued into D class rather than P. I don't know why this is the case but it seems like a good opportunity if you fancy LX F since D is upgradable with miles...especially now LX F is almost impossible with miles. The BA flight is ticketed into R which means upgradable in theory but I remember there were difficulties upgrading BA flights with miles if not issued on BA stock. I don't know how true that is now but at least it was the case when I last tried to do it.

Anyways LX is still less useful than LH if you are trying to get into F. If anyone can get this to ticket into D on LH let us know because that would be upgradable to F with a UA global premier upgrade

St. Moritz and Cap Town together for 2.5K is a wonderful deal. I just used (almost .... not really since they are in different years) all four weeks of my vacation lol.
