The actual boarding was denied by AB, so I would guess they are you best chance of getting EU261 compensation. You were at the gate and ticketed on the flight. I find the check-in excuse a bit poor, particularly as they knew you were coming.

LH seemingly admitted to bad signage, and LOT to bad weather delaying flights - neither or which qualify for EU261 compensation payments.
