The itin in question is a domestic r/t so it's 50k miles on the standard, vs 25,000 for the saver.
That said, maybe I won't book anything, as it seems like just about all the flights have standard availability so I can afford to wait.
If you're Gold you should have "last seat on the plane" accessibility for standard awards so there's really no need to lock it in especially if there are multiple flights a day and potentially multiple routings (aka it's unlikely every seat on every routing for the days you need will be sold out before you have to truly make a call on whether saver has been / will be released). Especially since this is domestic - so locking in partner availability is irrelevant as well.
Just monitor availability and as long as they're still selling revenue tickets in theory you should as a Gold be able to get a standard award up until the time they close the door on the plane. You'll pay the close-in fee but otherwise you won't pay anything else and either no saver opens up and you take a standard seat or a saver opens up and you snag that.
