Well you're going to make Diamond anyway, so it sounds like the only reason you would do a mileage run is so your wife could be Gold. Therefore the question is: what benefits do you think your wife would gain on that trip that would be useful enough to justify a $200-250 ticket?

Is she traveling with you? If you're not already a Sky Club member, would you both want the lounge access that comes with DM status? Is this about upgrades? Etc.?
