Or a system like SQ at SIN where you can check in up to 48 hours early, go airside when you wish and even spend the night in the transit hotel or a lounge, enjoy the airport amenities like the swimming pool and butterfly garden, free movies, etc.

I've gone to the airport in the evening (using the subway system), checked in, had dinner in the lounge (The Private Room), spent the night in the airport transit hotel, and returned to the lounge for breakfast before an early morning flight. It was pleasant and stress free.
