Hong Kong and Macau were meant to showcase the case for reunification to Taiwan. I guess the current leadership aren't keen on appearances now.
+1
The demonstration of a successful unification had gone horribly wrong.

Let these guys try occupying a plane in US. We'll meet then in jail.
Disturbance to the normal operation of the society shouldn't be tolerated at all.
I hope it will happen but the SAR Government will not toughen up against mainlanders. The so-called "autonomy" comes with big caveats. Chief Executives clearly know "who's the boss"... You really think HK will remain the same for 50 years? Look at Hong Kong now - how much have we progressed since 1997?
I hate to admit it, but Hong Kong is indeed part of PRC (which make HK different from Taiwan). However the difference in the culture and the way of life had caused so much friction that whole society is now in disarray.

....So whatever these Mainlanders are used to inside China, they won't get the same thing in HK. I am especially sympathetic to the people from HK, as they are on the front line, taking hits from Mainlandermanium. If similar law-breaking things happen in Singapore, these guys would be arrested anyway. ....
There're such incidents happen back in 2011 in SIN. Another horrible delay from HX, less than perfect compensation, people getting aggressive, creating a blockage in the airport, tussle with travelers from another flight. Police were called, K9 deployed, handcuffs raised, (Mainlanders said police allegedly threaten to draw arms - I doubt)....
After Singapore Police forced them up the plane, the protests continues in Hong Kong...
Local (Singapore) opinion at that time was Police is professional, but too lenient.... Some of the aggressive ones should be locked up
