Hong Kong airlines basically told them to sleep on the floor in the airport and get lost with a tiny payment for food, come back tomorrow..
Passengers decided to overnight in the airplane will just be as comfortable, and as a protest against such treatment till they get at least compensated. HK$800 won't buy you a (nice) hotel in HKG, and it doesn't make up for the terrible treatment of HK Airlines who are apparently too cheap to have either a spare crew or hotel vouchers for their passengers, but at least the passengers got SOMETHING out of it.
Humm, sleeping in a modern airport terminal or sleeping in LCC economy seat in a non-moving plane, hard choice.... NOT
As already mentioned airline not at fault here for the delay so they shouldn't be punished
