I'm with you on this one. Today, its too easy to point to an obscure page on a website and say "you should have noticed the difference between this and 4 other airlines". We can't all be experts in everything even if we had the memory capacity to do such in the rare & remote chance this may occur.

Friday, my flight was oversold by 4. I'm a fairly seasoned flyer plus a regular reader here but never did VDB in 25+ years of flying. Airtran was offering $300 plus the value of my ticket ($439) to get on a flight less than 3 hours away, I was in no rush for once and it was enticing. But I couldn't remember if this was cash, AirTran script, if it could be used on WN, would it expire before I could use it, whether they were honest about a real seat on the long sold out 2pm, whether it was going to be in business class, etc. So I couldn't could even be motivated to wait in line to ask despite the potential windfall...
