I recently stayed here. It's an OK property.
1- Small rooms but well appointed and comfy (hey, this is NYC).
2- Was not upgraded and front desk staff didn't even mention it during any of my 3 stays.
3- Breakfast is inlcuded and you get your points (love that), but it ends at 9:30am even on weekends. That's one of the earliest end times I've seen. Way too early to end.
4- There are no fridges in the rooms but they do have some they'll let you have for $10 per day. They waived the fee for me (because I'm Platinum).
5- Internet was a good speed - but they charged me for it. I had to keep calling after my stays to have it removed and for one internet charge they couldn't seem to get it right, so I had my Ambassador deal with them. Annoying.
6- Elevators are slow and a joke. The keycards simply don't work 25-33% of the time. I saw people riding up and down the elevators and couldn't get them to work. Neither could I.
Overall, it's a decent place and I like it better than the aLoft next door, especially since it was cheaper during my stay. If the aLoft dropped in price, I'd choose them. Be sure to stay on the lower floors if you're there on a weekend - they have a night club on the top floor.
