It appears from the referenced thread that there will not be the same type of extra benefits bonus program this year as in past years.
I apologize because I looked back at my post and figured that I misled folks. What the AAdvantage customer service lady said was that there was a scenario by which, if an already qualified EXP flew yet another 100k eqp (totaling, now, 200 eqp in the year) that that would result in another 8 evip's coming that customer's way. So she seemed to be telling me that flying another 100k eqp had a reward as just described.

I was skeptical and told her that I saw nothing published. She agreed and said it was, indeed, unpublished, and one had to ask.

So my point was that I had not seen this kind of benefit bandied about before (8 evip for another 100k accumulated eqp) and wondered if anyone else had heard of it or experienced it. That was the main thing.

And, additionally, I will always wonder why such a thing has to exist "off the books" and "in the shadows". If it is something AA would like ultra-mileage flyers to strive for, why not let the world know? I don't get this one. Last year I flew 250K eqm on UA, largely because AA's incentive for me after 100k, and even ELT3, was not competitive. I wound up with 16 regionals and 12 SWU's on UA for the flying year. Could not have done that on AA.

I think one has to be really loyal to AA to forego the advantages of the more numerous upgrades that are available on UA. And, sorry to say, I have yet to forgive the pilot meltdown of the fall of 2012. Caused me to miss my son's wedding rehearsal dinner---and I was the host.
