On this basis i would not call this an unexplained charge - it's merely unexpected.
Nonsense.
What if I said "I logged into flyertalk and there was a $1 charge...when I logged out I got a refund"
According to your logic this isnt unexplained, just merely unexpected.
(I checked in online to 160 segments on AA and never had a charge processed- and a few on BA...so this isnt a universal 'industy standard' Somehow other airlines manage to check people in without charging their cards... oh, and how does charging a card establish the 'presence' of the card???? Asking for the CCV again would, but they dont do that do they?)
Now, if BA **DISCLOSED** this to you BEFORE they did it, it would be both "explained" as well as "expected"
