And just to pile on, not broadcasting your SSID and filtering MAC addresses is also mighty inconvenient. If you don't have a guest network, you have a lot of work to do when a buddy comes over and wants to jump on your WiFi. "Wait, is it dtsm-net or dtms-net? How do I enter a new network on my phone if I can't see it?"

And even if you do have a guest network, adding a new WiFi scale or Nest Thermostat (not to mention a new access point) becomes a much harder task. And given the miniscule security value, it's really not worth it.
