There will be 11 and a half hours between the flights, and thinking there might be time to see some or at least one of the sights in Paris.

Is this a terrible idea? It will be a Sunday so I'm guessing most shops are closed but I'm thinking there might be something to see or do.
A terrible idea? Of course not! Visit churches, go to museums, take a boat ride on the Seine, go to cafés, enjoy yourself. As for shopping on a Sunday, this might help you: http://goparis.about.com/od/shopping...y-In-Paris.htm

I have done the transatlantic connection att CDG several times and to me, it is a nightmare.
What happened to you that CDG has always been a nightmare?

That's a great suggestion for luggage storage. Then you can go anywhere via the métro.
