How is this for a rerouting? DTW-PHL-BDA-LGW-(LHR)

I was booked to fly home this evening from DTW via ORD at 7:25pm this evening, when a storm him ORD and caused the cancellation of my DTW-ORD flight at 9pm.

Apparently the only way they can get me home is by flying me to PHL tomorrow at 7am (from DTW) and then onto bloody Bermuda, where I have a 7 hour layover before getting back to LGW at 6:55am on Saturday morning (and presumably making my own way back to LHR).

I can understand that there have been a couple of days of storms in mid-west, and that the flights are all fully booked, but surely there must be an easier way home than that...

I tried suggesting some creative solutions driving to ORD, or from PHL to NYC, but according to the BA call centre, every flight is booked everywhere tomorrow (I supposed it doesn't help that it's a Friday).

I would have thought that they could have put me on a Delta flight (DTW is a Delta hub) almost anywhere and got me home more directly, but I get the impression that they didn't want to look into that.

Maybe I should grin and bear it. I less offended about the 7 hours in Bermuda than I am about ending up in bloody Gatwick.

Creative suggestions of alternative routings or ways that I can self harm myself welcome.

NOTE TO SELF: Next time to Chicago (or bite the bullet and switch to Delta).
