I did JFK-SFO on AA177 this week in F.

I don't get it.

There doesn't seem to be any meaningful service or food differentiation between the F and C (even with only 3 of us in F, the FA was "shy"). The food was actually pretty ridiculously bad -- separated sauces, partly-frozen salad components, and (this is a first) undercooked-to-purple beef.

The seats are private, and I like that. But they're also small, and I'm quite tall. I didn't actually feel like I'd spring for F over J (although this was an upgrade). That said, with 30% take rate, I can't see how this product pays for itself... and with the service they're delivering, I can't see the price uplift being justified.
