Hmm, had a look and you're right.

Probably too much of a crapshoot to do it with NZ. Better off going to BNE and taking QF8 to SYD before QF8 moves to DFW-SYD.

Or there's the SYD-HKG option. 744 will stay on that route for a little I'd expect.
