Oh, I love Italy, I live there 50% of the year, and I am very much aware of the fact that the country is very, very safe for tourists and, obviously, Italians too. My point was that thieves don't really care about the police, especially not the vigili urbani, whose station is seen on the picture (see smily).

I didn't say you had to pay, I simply wrote that (based on the blue lines) this was a blue zone. In Italy you are usually allowed to park for one hour at a blue zone, unless otherwise indicated through signs. I guess, from what you wrote, that this is an exception, which confirms the fact that in Napoli (both province and city) everything's different from the rest of the country... As I wrote above, I love Italy, but I simply adore Napoli!
