Can not stress enough the value of comfortable shoes/loafers that can be worn with a suit or blazer. Once you get into your clinical rotations, you will spend an inordinate number of long days moving at high speed around a clinic/hospital. Other than presenters, I can't remember the last time I saw someone in a suit at a conference.
