I don't understand the debate on these rules, or the question of the passport. OP stated that UA admitted she was right and they were wrong.

It's great to clarify the rules for others, as you and others are doing MSP (thanks!), but the debate about this particular scenario seems pointless.

I too would be interested in what UA did to make this right for the OP, as I'm certain it's just a matter of time before they ruin a vacation for me with their nonsense.
