This is definitely not the case as I flew on SLC, SLD and SLE as well at various times between 2005-2007 and they did not have the flat beds.
2005 was a long time ago. Much of the SAA fleet and cabins have changed since then. Hardly any airlines had flatbeds then, let along their whole fleet with flatbeds. SAA's wide body fleet is now all flatbed with a consistent seat throughout the fleet. The same cannot be said for many other airlines.
