In re: Landscape. On the way back to the airport, we took a different way to be able to stop at the Bridge Between Continents (where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet). Driving to this bridge, we felt like were on another planet as it was all lava rocks.
On topic I guess, we decided to rent an apartment which was very nice, and seemly more luxurious of any rooms (based on hotel site photos) that we saw...and cheaper
The most luxurious options there would be home rentals and they are reasonable value if you can find the right one and it's available. None of the hotels there are luxury hotels IMO -- there's currently no market to support such year-round or even seasonally if you ask me .... even with growing diversity of common carrier service to KEF.
The hotels mentioned in this thread are all sufficient, but go in with the expectation that luxury hotels aren't the way to describe them.
