Definitely. I've accessed the AC many times when flying UA, AS, and VX. No problem at all; no boarding pass required. I just present my EXP card when entering.
Ah, but is your AC membership paid or is it through the Citi Executive Card?
I know there's no problem entering the AC when not flying AA if one is a paid member.
