two thoughts:
1) I ran across the single best way (at least that I have ever found) way to fold a sport / suit jacket. This method will free you from the confines of more traditional garment bags

2) consider carry-on bags without wheels. If you don't have back or shoulder problems a non-wheeled bag saves weight and frees up interior space consumer by the wheels and associated structure. Plus, its less likely to be flagged for being gate checked.
