The people telling you 99.9% don't care have experience and are giving you simple advice based on it. I'll back them up the same, the worst thing a hotel can do if they "find you out" is not allow you to use that rate if you can't provide credentials. But none ever do ask in my experience.

Heck - I don't even carry my company badge with me when I travel to client sites and even if I did it doesn't have the company's name on it for security purposes (in case someone loses their badge, they wouldn't know where to use it). So how are they going to validate I work for my company anyways?
