Seriously though, I agree with you. The rest of us have to put up with these mishaps without public attention and the possible mitigations that are put into place as a result.

Maybe Rory should take United as a sponsor and call attention to the rest of the problems this forum is known to highlight! How about THAT suggestion instead of a full page USA advertisement !
Exactly, the more telling takeaway for me is this:

Have a microphone through which to shout loudly and publicly? We'll make sure to apologize and get your bags back ASAP. In fact our own UA Insider will even make a rare appearance to give us an update while continuing to ignore real legitimate questions about ongoing changes, etc.

Regular Joe flying in Y, J, or F (especially without status) - uhhh we'll get them to you when we get them to you and if you have a problem with it too bad

UA's priorities are great (though in this case sadly not out of the norm with other companies who cater to celebrities and those with big microphones to shout through)
