got my replacement. has the chip. I took my old card to work and tried to use what I thought was a cutter but it ended up being a hole punch. long story short my card got stuck in the hole punch. took about 20 minutes to get it out. so now i had to bend the card about 50 times until it broke in half. time to strategically throw away the two halves.
