This makes me wonder though. Don't take this the wrong way but this is essentially how our society works in that I would think UA and other airlines would watch/track/manage Rory's bags like gold to be sure nothing like this happens. Why? Because when something went wrong he went to social media and tens of thousands of people are now aware of UA's mess up. If it happened to me and I were to post it here, FB, Twitter, etc. I'd be lucky if 100 people were aware.
