I just flew DFW-LHR in F on the 777-300 and agree that the meal difference is not substantial. I found the F seat more comfortable - but the J seats are certainly quite nice. For me the big difference: the service in F v. J. We had two crew members (Purser + galley FA) assigned to take care of the 8 pax in F. The size of the J cabin means that it come sometimes take 2+ hours to get through meal service - and even lengthy waits to get beverages, etc..
