The "value" of a GPU is in the eyes of the beholder. What's a fair comparision? It's whatever you would pay to upgrade. If you would buy a full J fare in order to sit up front, then the effective value is the difference between your fare and the full J.
If you would actually buy 20,000 miles and pay the copay...then it's whatever that comes out to (approx $1000-1200).
But, if you actually wouldn't do either of those things, then neither is a fair comparision of the "value" of a GPU to
you.
In cases like these, I think it's best to let the market be your guide. What value would a willing buyer and selller transact at? Going rate for a GPU has been in the range of $250-$300 for quite some time. That's probably the best assessment of "value" in general, but your individual utility may differ.
