Got stuck overnight at Newark in January. For that kind of situation, the Doubletree is a good enough hotel and the price was right. It was 8,000 points + $40. Obviously it is not a destination hotel, but it does have a spacious freshly refurbished atrium lobby, indoor pool, and a full service restaurant and free shuttle that reliably runs every half hour. Room furniture is showing some wear but it clean and smells good with good beds, pillows and linen that are newer. The staff is good. Room service was efficient and the food was OK. The breakfast for Gold includes hot foods and eggs to order, not just continental. The interior balcony rooms look like they would be better than those with an outside view, because the view is purely ugly. Airline personnel stay there.
