No. Buying E+ is not worth it either. The feeling is, if you fly enough you will obtain that as part of your status anyway so why pay? Maybe this is something UA wants you to pay for and might take it away as a perk of being such a frequent flyer. Most will not pay, they will just switch to another airline that values their loyalty more.
