If the decision height that day is 50 feet or something like that, then it is close to the ground. But if that's the point at which it's done, the pilots will probably have been in the correct mindset already anyway.
I remember sitting in the T4 lounge one fine afternoon watching the arrivals onto 27L. A 737 was being followed by an MD11, and the spacing looked very close. I told my companion to watch a probable go-around as I didn't expect the 737 would get off the runway soon enough. The MD11 duly obliged: they got to what looked like exactly 50 feet and then stuck their nose up in the air accompanied by all the expected noise.
It's quite fun to fly go-arounds in the 747 and 777 sims - highly recommended for those who are planning on going on the Cranebank outing. The ability of a 747 to stop on a rejected take-off is pretty impressive too.
