I fully agree and most certainly hope the new AF seats will be reclining. I have no information on that although others might know.
PS: I would add that other things are hard to judge without intended tension in the test: for instance, you don't realise how uncomfortable the NEO seats are until someone behind you seems to kick your back every time they touch your seat. I'm not as convinced as you that non-reclining seats are the future (after all the new LH and BA medium haul seats are both reclining) but I'm pretty sure that thin backed seats are. As such, if trying new seats, I would personally insist on such things as people playing "the nasty kid behind you" before volunteering any verdict!
