There is always a "suck it up and move on" contingent, which sort of surprised me when I ran into it with the Citi 5x TYP shutdown. Their point was that official complaining and suing would make all card issuers more careful and would prevent future offers that people could take advantage of, i.e. short term gain vs long term loss.
Of course, this isn't convincing to those that just had a bunch of points confiscated (for good according to Citi) so people did file in SCC, some won or had a settlement, and the offers continue.
But....! I do feel a sense of what I will call "fake outrage" in the MM posts. Yes, it's bad they are holding on to money for so long, but, sort of, what do you expect? You were gaming them, even if you weren't breaking the rules, and they are gaming you by investigating your claims very very slowly. I'm sure they will return the money in a reasonable time once the investigation is complete, but the investigation never completes.
