One aspect I love about taking early morning flights from Gatwick to Scotland is the view we get as we head north over Dartford. With Canary Wharf and LCY in the foreground and on a good day a visible LHR, and the best part is from an A seat you’re almost guaranteed a great shot of a wide body looping around Canary Wharf several thousand feet beneath you like a tiny dart sparkling in the morning sun.
Yep, you'll usually be climbing to around 13000ft at that point... That's the normal level that Northbounds out of Gatwick get slotted through the Lambourne arrival stream into Heathrow, but it can be higher depending on the performance of the aircraft.
