Normal thing for LCY on easterlies is descending to 2000ft going downwind across South East London, the downwind should never go further west than around Vauxhall Bridge.

This is because it's possible to have a scenario where Heathrow is landing west and City is landing east, therefore the City arrivals have to tuck in under the Heathrow ones (4000ft around Canary Wharf, descending 3000ft and further with the ILS).

Don't forget that things were made interesting today by the fly past for Trooping the Colour, and the Biggin Hill Festival of Flight.
