The confirmation number is no help --- the needed item is the fare basis / fare code (not the fare class). This is provided on united.com on the first email (the reservation acknowledgement "Thank you for choosing United Airlines. " -- below the fare details). It is a 3-6/7/8 character alphanumeric.

Then you go to KVS/EF and you are the fare codes for the same flight and read the details. This does require the same fare code to still be filed for that route but it does not require the same fare code to be purchasable for your flight.
