I have been a CO/UA customer since the 80's. My MileagePlus number actually goes all the way back to Eastern Airlines!

I have been Silver status almost all that time, and for this first time earned Gold status last year. I know that pales in comparison to many here, but I've been a loyal customer nevertheless.

I began cutting my ties a few months ago, and am sealing the deal now having converted my Chase United Club card to a Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Number one reason I am leaving is the heavy reliance on RJ's. I just hate them. Secondary reasons for leaving are the recent UC downgrades, followed by the poor onboard experience, particularly in the premium cabin.

Between my partner and I, we have 600K+ miles yet to burn. Will try to take a couple of business class trips overseas to close things out for good.

Happy I have finally made the decision.
