Might want to look into switching to Chase Sapphire preferred. It's 40k points for signup, and you get the 2x points bonus for all travel expenses, including hotels and flights, both UA and non-UA. Points transfer 1-to-1 to your Mileageplus instantaneously.
Smart move - I still have the great legacy MP Plat card, but now that I've maxed out my 10K EQMs from it, I've put it in the drawer...I'm all about getting URs with the CSP.
