Even with the fees for seat selection and baggage check added on, the LCCs are often still much less expensive than a larger carrier. Depends on what's more important to you. Just because you wouldn't fly them doesn't mean you should dissuade the OP from doing so.
ETA: I have flown EasyJet and Vueling and would do so again.
