If you don't care about status then no, the executive card has no purpose after the 10k spend. But plenty of people do find value in exec plat, and at least for me, exec plat status with the 8 international segment upgrades is a much more valuable use of 40k spend than Hilton diamond, but that's a function of how much revenue flying I have to do vs how much I stay in hotels.
