Why Have The UA Chase Card?

I am trying to follow the changes with mileageplus. I am a 1k--through segment flying and a 1mm.

As a 1k, I get the baggage allowances, priority boarding, etc. The card gets me miles----and the additional miles on the spend.

However, for me, the $25,000 spend to allow for 1k was really helpful, didn't have to worry about what I will be spending this year.

With the changes, that benefit is now gone--correct?

So I am left with earning straight miles and the bonus for purchasing tickets. So if I spend $10k on tickets and $50k on the card, I will basically be receiving 70k in miles for the cost of the card (I also have additional members so the annual cost is about $225).

Am I seeing all of this right? Seems as though the card's value to me now is simply miles and nothing else.
