Glad you enjoyed the trip, although this level of service is actually routine for AA's Hawaii routes (year-round from LAX/DFW and seasonally from ORD), with just a couple of exceptions...
1. The LAX-Hawaii flights are generally 757s, except for a few seasonal 763 flights, so there are no lie-flat/angled seats.
2. There is no continental breakfast on the LAX flights, unless there has been a recent change.
I haven't flown to/from Hawaii since late last year, but it's interesting that the meal selections have stayed the same for so long. I suppose that since these routes are so leisure vs. business-heavy, that AA assumes variety isn't as necessary as on routes where business travelers might be making more routine trips.
