I don't see Prayuth as a dictator and I agree, this is not a struggle for the crown's power. But while a few thousand, maybe even a few million, Thai people were against the amnesty bill the majority were for it. Bangkok and Phuket aren't the majority. 15 million people voted for TRT and it's various identities and just over half that many voted for the Dems.
I am fully convinced that if they had amnesty for everyone and an election were held today, Thaksin would win in a landslide. That's why the Dems and their supporters are so against amnesty.
I am also convinced that if there was a referendum allowing the Thai people to vote on amnesty, it would also win in a landslide. That's what "The Thai People" want.
Let's be clear where the opposite views lie. Do I think there needs to be a house cleaning? Absolutely. Do I think the Thai people want a house cleaning? Probably most, but it would be close. Do I think Suthep was about a house cleaning? No chance. He was and is about Suthep.
