I haven't been in 4E, but I know that you will have traffic going past the right of the seat. The curtain to the left of the seat is avoided by crew, and has no interest for J passengers. Noise-wise it should be fine. There is no direct proximity to the pantry.
So yes, its a solo seat. But its the Captain Kirk seat of the plane. In case that doesn't sound awkward to you, you'll be fine! If it does sound awkward, don't be shy to take a seat next to a stranger. Despite the inconvenience of "the climb". The setup is such that you don't feel like you're sharing a bed (like on LH).

For me the look and feel is quite similar to what you see when you open up a sardine tin. In fact, the way the BA setup feels for me is not far from that...
