Cool Bose QC20 Earphones ruined by a UA 738

Yesterday I flew on UA 1101 in seat 3A from SEA-IAH..5:20am departure (so the plane overnighted at SEA)...A 737-800 #3274 with overhead video and a dual prong audio jack. I put on my beloved QC20's while still on the ground and plugged them into the jack (using the dual prong adapter) ..the sound was so loud it was painful and I pulled them out of my ears immediately to avoid going deaf.

My eardrums are fine..sadly I can't say the same for my QC20's. The left earbud's speaker was damaged and there is now clear distortion. They should still be under warranty (less than a year old) and hopefully Bose will replace them.. I'll visit a Bose store over the weekend to find out.

The reason I mentioned the plane overnighted at SEA is that it would seem to me the volume should have been re-set from the prior flight which usually happens... it isn't as though someone else was sitting there on a flight immediately before mine and jacked up the volume. I've never experienced something like this in all my years of flying as far as I can remember.
