I can second that. I checked in for my flight today via AA.com on a US Airways codeshare flight operated on American metal and got the upgrade option presented to me. I just had to retrieve the AA confirmation code from my reservation on USAirways.com first to retrieve the record from AA.com since it isn't associated to my AAdvantage account after logging in.
