It was a KLM ticket and I probably spent 4 hours total calling the real KLM and trying to get the seats to stick. Eventually they did, around 5 days out.

If you scroll down at that page you can see that only FB (PM) and SM (DM/PM) will get it for free. STE+ have to pay for them.
